Ingredients
- 500g all-purpose flour (4 cups)

- 2 liters water
- 2 tbsp sugar

Instructions
1. Make the Dough
Mix flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Add warm milk, egg, and melted butter. Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth.
2. First Rise
Cover and let the dough rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
3. Shape
Divide into 6–8 equal pieces and shape into long oval loaves.
4. Boil
Bring water and sugar to a gentle boil. Boil each dough piece for 20–30 seconds per side. Remove and drain.
5. Score
Place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Make diagonal cuts across each loaf with a sharp knife.
6. Brush
Brush with the egg yolk and milk mixture.
7. Bake
Bake at 190°C (375°F) for 20–25 minutes, until golden brown.

- Don’t over-boil the dough or it may become dense.
- Use bread flour for a chewier texture.
